About Our Chicory

  • Our premium chicory is grown and harvested by family farmers in the traditional chicory growing region of Northern France. French Press? Never heard of this. Went on You Tube and watched some videos. Decided to get one, specially to use with the Chicory root, hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. Upon opening the bag , I was instantly met with the pleasant aroma of the Roasted French Chicory, which, to me was like a slight hint of chocolate and fresh
smoked woods. The grinds were fine, which I thought, I've made a mistake and they won't work in my French coffee maker. Thought I would have to separately strain the coffee so that i wouldn't be having the grounds in my mouth. The first time I made it was with 3 scoops ( they include a scoop with your purchase). It was too strong for my liking, but still a good taste. The second time I made it with just one scoop. Let it sit for 5 minutes before pushing the plunger down. Was surprised that there were no (absolutely
none) grounds in my cup. Added 2 tablespoons of organic coconut milk and some vanilla coffee creamer to this, and the taste was out of this world. Just wish I never wanted so long to try it. Will definitely be buying more , I'm hooked.

What a great substitute for regular coffee. This is going to be my regular morning drink.
I bought a glass French coffee press and made this French chicory coffee in it. I usually use a drip coffee maker but I think there's something extra about using a coffee press. It enhances the flavor and the experience, like having a fancy coffee in a coffee shop.

I put 1 tablespoon of chicory and filtered water up to the 13.5oz mark in the coffee press. I followed the instructions for the coffee press exactly as directed.
This ratio of chicory to water may seem weak for some. I didn't want to make it too strong and It turned out to be just the right ratio for me. But you can adjust the ratio to your own taste, just experiment with it. It will be different ratios depending on whether you use a drip coffee maker or a French press.
The way I made it, it was perfect for me, I was taken by surprise at how rich tasting it is, very flavorful, not bitter. It is a comforting hot beverage. I think it actually tastes equal to or even better than coffee. I drank it black and then with creamer and it tastes great either way.
I love that this French chicory has nothing added to it. There's no other ingredients, no artificial flavors. It's just French chicory. Fantastic.
I will be buying this brand from now on.
