About our Ramón Seeds
About our Ramón Seeds
-
Growing to a height of 130 feet, ramón trees are an essential part of the upper canopy in Central American rainforests. Known by a variety of local common names, ramón seeds were a traditional food valued by native people. Ramón seeds are also known as Capomo, Ojoche, Maya Nut, Ramon nut, bread nut, mojo, masica and many other native Central American names.
Now wild harvested in Guatemala’s Maya Biosphere Reserve, this nutritious seed provides a source of food and income for rural communities. Comparable to walnuts for their ability to fight free radicals, ramón seeds contain more potassium, fiber and calcium than any other bean or grain. It has a complete protein that is high in tryptophan to help calm your nerves in stressful times
I've tried every coffee alternative going back as far a Postum and none were a satisfying alternative until this became available. No caffeine, no odd flavors as the other alternatives all seem to have, reported to have beneficial antioxidants, few to no calories as coffee or tea. The grind on this brand works perfectly in Keurig single serve with reusable filter. The other brand available of same product is ground too fine and plugs up that filter but would probably work fine in a pour over type filter. I drink espresso and also like a full bodied coffee that is smooth like 100% Kona. The strength and body of this alternative can be adjusted by how much you use and how you brew it such as filtered or unfiltered etc., so you have choices to make it to your liking.

I've been drinking Ramon nut coffee (aka capomo) for a couple years. It has a toasty, slightly sweet flavor that's more mellow than coffee but is equally satisfying. And it allows the familiar morning ritual that coffee drinkers enjoy. I make this in a Chemex. This is the only organic brand I've found, and it's in high demand and often sold out. I'll continue to buy it when available. I order the Blue Zone brand when it's not, but this is always my first choice.

I just ordered a second bag. It’s delicious and has high chocolate notes. We drink it hot or iced and make it just as we do coffee —in a Chemex pot with a paper filter using one level tablespoon of the ground Ramón seeds to one cup hot water. We like it served with Oatly or unsweetened soy milk but it’s great with cow’s milk too. It tastes like dessert!
